There will be no morning or afternoon classes for QMS students on MONDAY, JANUARY 13th.
Staff will report to work as needed and make arrangements as it relates to their individual attendance to the funeral and remembrance proceedings for long-time teacher, Ms. Mary P. Mamgark.

Completed artwork by class 6A were installed and displayed for everyone to see. The homeroom teacher taught students step-by-step to re-purpose cardboard and paper towel rolls into colourful sculptural pieces.

Qitiqliq Middle School student visited John Arnalukjuak High School to enjoy the play called "Lost in Arviat".

The Grade 8 students helped to organize the first school dance of the year. The dance was part of a fundraising effort.

Students and staff gathered to enjoy Christmas activities and singing. Through the support and funding provided through Jordan's Principle, students were able to receive an Under Armor gym bag and water bottle as well as gym shoes, a shirt, and sweatpants.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2024
Students, staff, and elders gathered at QMS to celebrate the closing of the year with a feast. The chefs at our school and important staff who hunted and harvested fish and meat were vital in providing a strong traditional connection to reinforce and strengthen students' awareness and appreciation.

The local RCMP visited QMS early in the morning to help make breakfast for students - pancakes were on the menu.

In the week of October 21st to 25th, each homeroom class took turns to visit the QMS school camp. One class visited in the morning while another class visited during the after blocks.

Students use Oreo cookies to re-create the phases of the moon in science class.
Students from class 7C had an enjoyable session with Connected North.
Students used the soapstone materials and tools provided through Connected North to learn how to transform a polar bear template by adding separation of the feet and shaping a nose, a tail, and ears. The instructor joined the students live via a dedicated broadband video connection.

Students were reminded on Wednesday, October 2nd that indoor shoes will be needed starting October 7th.

QMS has recently received an order of gym gear. The gear has been organized and will be distributed according to the data used when the order was placed during the 2023-2024 school year.

Qitiqliq Middle School is closed today for ALL STUDENTS - No school for the entire day.
The school will remain closed for the rest of the day for ALL TEACHERS and STAFF.

QMS first school assembly of the year welcomed the grade 6 students with a traditional cheer and the "hot potato" group activity and also celebrated those selected as Student of the Month recipients.
Students and staff also showed solidarity by wearing their orange shirts to help honour the memories, testimonials, and the loss of felt by survivors of Residential Schools in Canada.
Students from each school in Arviat participated in the Terry Fox Run.
Qitiqliq Middle School students were able to raise enough funds to exceed this year's goal of $500.

The annual Terry Fox Run for hope and run for cancer research is happening starting at 1:30pm.

The event kicks off in front of our partner, the John Arnalukjuak High School.
